Sylvie Riant, born in Paris in 1962 and currently living in South Tyrol, was a co-founder of the artists by moessmer collective in 2006 alongside Julia Bornefeld (GER) and Wilma Kammerer (IT). The group was based at the Moessmer loden factory in Bruneck for twelve years. Today, she maintains studios in Terenten and Bolzano with the ARTES (SKB) collective.
Her multidisciplinary work blends social relevance with poetic depth. Her creative process is shaped by dual expertise: after graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1990), she earned a Master’s in Art Therapy from Université Paris Descartes (Paris V). This symbiosis of visual arts, humanities, and psychology forms the foundation of her artistic practice.
Since 2008, she has developed participatory, multidisciplinary art formats rooted in co-creation. Her focus lies in involving marginalized groups to practice inclusion and strengthen identity through authentic encounters and shared experiences. Her approach uses art as both catharsis and a social lever.
At the heart of her work is a reflection on the fragility of life, materialized through wax, textiles, and natural materials, as well as the question of resilience. She gives form to "silent stories," placing marginalized lives at the center to promote inclusion. By giving these figures a voice, she engages in re-feminization and explores themes of loss and endurance. Her work moves between sculpture, installation, and video, inventing rituals that explore the sacred and collective memory.

Sylvie Riant, 1962 in Paris geboren und in Südtirol lebend, war 2006 Mitbegründerin des Kollektivs artists by moessmer zusammen mit Julia Bornefeld (DE) und Wilma Kammerer (IT). Die Gruppe war zwölf Jahre lang in der Lodenfabrik Moessmer in Bruneck ansässig. Heute arbeitet sie in Ateliers in Terenten und in Bruneck, im Kollektiv Fabrikstrasse 2.
Ihr multidisziplinäres Werk verbindet gesellschaftliche Relevanz mit poetischer Tiefe. Ihr kreativer Prozess ist geprägt von einer doppelten Expertise: Nach ihrem Abschluss an der École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1990) erwarb sie einen Master in Kunsttherapie an der Université Paris Descartes (Paris V). Diese Symbiose aus bildender Kunst, Geisteswissenschaften und Psychologie bildet das Fundament ihrer künstlerischen Praxis.
Seit 2008 entwickelt sie multidisziplinäre Projekte und partizipative Kunstformate, die auf Co-Kreation basieren. Indem sie diesen Figuren eine Stimme gibt, setzt sie sich mit Re-Feminisierung und Sichtbarkeit auseinander und erkundet Themen wie Verlust und Ausdauer. Ihr Werk bewegt sich zwischen Skulptur, Installation und Video und erfindet Rituale, die das Sakrale und das kollektive Gedächtnis untersuchen.

Sylvie Riant, née à Paris en 1962 et résidant actuellement au Tyrol du Sud, a cofondé en 2006 le collectif artists by moessmer aux côtés de Julia Bornefeld (D) et Wilma Kammerer (IT). Le groupe disposait d'un atelier-entrepot dans la fabrique de loden Moessmer à Bruneck pendant douze ans. Aujourd'hui, elle travaille à Terenten, dans son atelier et à Bruneck dans le collectif d’artistes Fabrikstrasse 2.
Son travail multidisciplinaire allie pertinence sociale et profondeur poétique. Son processus de création est façonné par une double expertise : après un diplôme de l'École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (1990), elle a obtenu un Master en art-thérapie à l'Université Paris Descartes (Paris V).
